Man, man, man! Just when I thought Lucha Underground couldn't raise the bar any higher than they've already did. Welcome to the April 22, 2015 edition of my Lucha Underground review. tonight's episode was one of the most intense episodes so far in its short history! The main topics that I am going to cover are: what's next for Black Lotus, Sexy Star's Revenge and the inevitable: two classics in one. I'm going to try not to overload you, since I am on mark out mode as I type this. Without further ado, let's. get. started.
What's next for Black Lotus?
At the start of the show, we see the return of Black Lotus, who has been training with Dragona Azteca for 8 weeks. She's think's she ready to fight on her own, and sees her anger as her greatest strength (vice versa, her trainer see it as her greatest weakness). During the segment, she takes on the task of taking down numerous combatants. With the smoothness of her skills, you think that she's ready to fight on her own, right? Nope! She then takes on her trainer himself, and finds out that she is not as ready as she thought. So, what's next? As of now, I see her chronicling more training and nostalgia to fight in her diary over the next several weeks. Or, maybe, she'll take matters into her own hands...
Sexy Star's Revenge!
Last week, Sexy Star saved ring announcer Melissa Santos from being a sacrificial lamp to Pentagon, Jr.'s "master". This week, she successfully sought revenge by getting a surprise victory over the quite psychotic Pentagon. She may think that this win against Pentagon means this rivalry is over, but I feel that Pentagon may have another thing coming. Who knows? He may even attempt to get Sexy Star as a sacrifice to his "master", whom ever he/she may be.
The Inevitable: Two Classics in one!
This wasn't just any finals match for the Lucha Underground Trios Tag Team Championship. This match, along with the impromptu match after it, were just straight Match of the Year caliber classics! The original finals match was a Trios Elimination Tag Team Match. To be honest, I was not anticipating the team Ivelisse, Son of Havoc and Angelico to outlast the other two teams who were obviously more united and cohesive coming into the match. There were some individual favorites in this match. Cage was straight beasting before he and company got eliminated thanks to the mysterious man in the audience going ham on Texano... but for what reason? Anyways, The Mack and Killshot continue to impress in their matches, and this one was no different. Hell, we even got a "Willie Mack!" chant from the fans in the Lucha Underground Temple. Angelico was also impressive in this match, but not as impressive as he was in the impromptu No DQ Match for the titles.
After the dysfunctional trio won the titles, Lucha Underground proprietor Dario Cueto comes out and flips the script, and says that they are not the official inaugural champions... and brings out his goon squad, The Crew (Bael, Mr. Cisco, Cortez Castro), whom we have not seen in almost a month, who competed for the titles in a No Disqualification Match. Let me tell you. This match was incredible! I was on the edge of my seat and reeling the whole match. The "Holy Shit!" moment came when Angelico soared through the Lucha Underground Temple and successfully lands on Bael and Castro. Shockingly enough, facing The Crew in the match actually brought the unlikely tandem together for a common cause: to kill off Cueto's Goon Squad. The three once again come out victorious, despite being tired out twenty minutes prior to their second match to officially become the inaugural LU Trios Tag Team Champions!
Damn, if you did not watch this episode (or any Lucha Underground episode, for that matter), you have better find a way to check out. It's episodes likes this that let me know that Lucha Underground is here to stay! Until next week, keep on flyin'! LUCHA! LUCHA! LUCHA!
We recap the victories of the Trios leading to the finals to crown the inaugural Lucha Underground Trios Tag Team Champions!
As Black Lotus writes in her diary, she reveals that she's been training with Dragona Azteca for 8 weeks now - and she thinks she's ready. despite her trainer lecturing to her that her anger being her biggest weakness (while, vice versa, she sees it as her strength). Suddenly, the door opens to Dragona Azteca, her trainer, who surrounds her with numerous counterparts, thus testing her skills that he has taught her over the past 8 weeks. Black Lotus takes them all down with ease, but she has one more opponent - her trainer, who beats her at her own game, and simply tells her: "You're not ready."
Sexy Star gets the surprise victory over Pentagon, Jr., much to the approval of ring announcer Melissa Santos, who was attacked by Pentagon last week.
Johnny Mundo is pumping weights in the training room when Alberto El Patron, who is "shocked" that Mundo lost his Trios match last week and that he is one of the reason that he [El Patron] came to Lucha Underground. Mundo takes offense to Alberto's insults, but Alberto just tells him to calm down.

Sup, everyone and welcome to the April 15, 2015 edition of my Lucha Underground review. This isn't going to be a long one, but I do want to get a few thoughts off my chest. The main topics I want to cover are: Pentagon Jr.'s sacrificial conquests taken a little too far and the finals for the LU Trios Tag Team Championships is set!
Pentagon Jr.'s sacrificial conquests taken too far(?)
For the past several months, the masterly, dangerous Pentagon, Jr. has been on a vicious acquisition of annihilating various members of the Lucha Underground roster and ultimately making them sacrificial lambs for his "master", who has no identity whatsoever. His latest acquisition? Ring announcer Melissa Santos, who is usually told to announce when another sacrifice is bound to happen. Thankfully enough, Sexy Star swooped in for the save, while Vampiro was going for it momentarily. Did his "master" really tell him to prey on the innocent? What is really Pentagon's motivation for these severe beatings he deems "sacrifices"? Let me tell ya, I do have some theories about this whole "master" ordeal. Remember when Pentagon had the brief blink-and-you'll-miss alliance with Chavo Guerrero, Jr.? When the two fell apart after the culmination of Aztec Warfare, Chavo "quits", and Pentagon started his rampage not long after. I feel that the two have either re-aligned, or they may have never ended their alliance in the first place. However, this is just my theory on this storyline. Hey, you never know. I may have scratched the surface on this one...
LU Trios Tag Team Championship Tournament Final is set!!!
Take a look at these three trios that will square off to become the first-ever Lucha Underground Trios Tag Team Champions!
Ivelisse, Angelico and Son of Havoc
Big Ryck, Kill Shot and The Mack
King Cuerno, Cage and Texano
First off, let me say that the team of Ivelisse, Angelico and Son of Havoc make for a rather interesting and dysfunctional team. I mean, you have two members who have recently broken up, and a third wheel who may have wanted to taste Ivelisse's goodies, if ya catch my drift. Following his return to Lucha Underground to get revenge on his former stablemates The Crew (Bael, Mr. Cisco and Cortez Castro), Big Ryck brought in his good friend, Kill Shot and his on-screen cousin, The Mack as his backup. The three killed it in their semi-finals match, and The Mack continue to impress in the preview Triple Threat Match against Cage and Son of Havoc. The most recent and final team to enter the finals: King Cuerno, Cage and Texano. You have a cool, but cold demeanor Luchador, a F-ing machine and the ruthless rudo of AAA... ... just full of badassery. They used their crafty heel tactics to their advantage to get the win (however, as Vampiro pointed out throughout the match, Puma and Hernandez being on a team together was not a good idea in the first place). I am very excited for this one, Expect all night of these competitors to be putting their bodies on the line all over the temple!
That's it for this one, folks! Until next week, keep on flyin'! LUCHA! LUCHA! LUCHA!
