Underground Sound - Lucha Underground recap for February 3, 2016

As Prince Puma is training backstage, he reminisces about his title match against Mil Muertes at Ultima Lucha. Pentagon Jr appears and thanks him for last week and volunteers Puma to be his partners and continue to break bones with him and destroy The Disciple of Death. Pentagon laughs invidiously, before he and Puma exchange blows...with Puma gaining the upper hand and walking away.

Johnny Mundo beats Killshot. After the match, he says that the earthquake that Mil Muertes (who sits on his throne atop the entrance) felt as a little boy, is nothing compared to the end of the world. Cage appears on the rafters and he's clearly not impressed with Mundo, and hr actually is siding with Mil Muertes. Cage wants a fight, and when faces Mundo in the ring, the latter back down. Mundo sneak attacks Cage...only for Cage to gain the upper hand, and Mundo retreats.

We see a room where Sexy Star was kidnapped by Marty "The Moth" Martinez, who puts a moth in her face as he sickly says that "she has nothing to be afraid of". He says that he's going to bring his sister with him to the temple, but he will be with her as she arrives...

"The Darewolf" PJ Black debuts tonight!

The Mack beats PJ Black with a jumping stunner in the latter's debut match.

Prince Puma and Pentagon Jr beats The Disciples of Death. Pentagon attacks Puma. When it seemed as if Pentagon was going to break his arm, Puma escaped just in the nick of time.

The mysterious man from season one is sitting across the table from someone talking, who convinces him that's time for him to shine. That man Dragon Azteca, Jr is convinced by nine other than Rey Mysterio himself.

Underground Sound - Lucha Underground recap for May 6, 2015

Johnny Mundo and Alberto El Patron are in Dario Cueto's office. They both feel that they deserve a shot at Prince Puma's Lucha Underground Championship. El Patron goes as far as to say that he deserves a shot more than the actual number one contender, Hernandez, who sleazed his way into changing the standard triple threat match into a #1 contender's match last week. With this, Dario Cueto holds up slips of paper with both their names on them, setting up the main event match for tonight, in which the winner will face Hernandez next week to determine the true number one contender for the Lucha Underground Championship.

Ivelisse, who is on crutches due to a leg injury, sits in the audience and torts out orders to her partners.

The Crew (Cortez Castro & Mr. Cisco) beats Son of Havoc & Angelico.

Dario Cueto now has DelAvar Daivari, the man who took out Texano a couple of weeks ago. Cueto acknowledges him for his bravery, and sets up a match between the latter and Texano tonight. Meanwhile, in the locker room, Konnan blasts Hernandez for what he did in Prince Puma's title match against Drago last week. Hernandez felt that he saved his title match, but Puma isn't trying to hear any of it. Dario Cueto overhears the fuss, pleased with what he hears, and sets up Hernandez and Puma to tag against Cage and King Cuerno later tonight.

DelAvar Daivari beats Texano by disqualification with Texano pushes the referee to get to Daivari. The two brawl in the ring afterwards.

Cage and King Cuerno beats Prince Puma and Hernandez after Hernandez powerbombs Prince Puma on the turnbuckle and takes a walk out of the match, leaving Puma to fend for himself.

Black Lotus is still determined to leave and fend for herself, but El Dragon Azteca refuses to see her suffer the same fate as her parents. He then give her the ultimatum - if she beats him, she can leave. After a short series of blocks from both sides, Dragon Azteca gains the upper hand, and says that she has a better chance of survival than her parents if she stays with him. Reluctantly enough, she blows out her candle and stays.

Alberto El Patron beats Johnny Mundo in a fast-paced, chaotic match to earn the right to face Hernandez to determine the true number one contender to Prince Puma's Lucha Underground Championship!

Catrina sends a cryptic message about the afterlife. She is standing in front of a casket, which revealed to has the deceased Mil Muertes inside. She orders Ricky Banderas to come back alive as Mil Muertes, and just like the famous Frankenstein scene, he comes back to life.

Underground Sound - Lucha Underground recap for April 22, 2015

We recap the victories of the Trios leading to the finals to crown the inaugural Lucha Underground Trios Tag Team Champions!

As Black Lotus writes in her diary, she reveals that she's been training with Dragona Azteca for 8 weeks now - and she thinks she's ready. despite her trainer lecturing to her that her anger being her biggest weakness (while, vice versa, she sees it as her strength). Suddenly, the door opens to Dragona Azteca, her trainer, who surrounds her with numerous counterparts, thus testing her skills that he has taught her over the past 8 weeks. Black Lotus takes them all down with ease, but she has one more opponent - her trainer, who beats her at her own game, and simply tells her: "You're not ready."

Sexy Star gets the surprise victory over Pentagon, Jr., much to the approval of ring announcer Melissa Santos, who was attacked by Pentagon last week.

Johnny Mundo is pumping weights in the training room when Alberto El Patron, who is "shocked" that Mundo lost his Trios match last week and that he is one of the reason that he [El Patron] came to Lucha Underground. Mundo takes offense to Alberto's insults, but Alberto just tells him to calm down.

Ivelisse, Angelico and Son of Havoc outlast the teams of  Texano, Cage and King Cuerno and Big Ryck, Killshot and The Mack to become Lucha Underground's first-ever Trios Tag Team Champions! Dario Cueto, who is as shocked as the fans in the temple comes out and congratulates them... but they have not earn the titles yet. They have one more team to go through, personally handpicked by himself... The Crew (Bael, Mr. Cisco and Cortez Castro) in a No Disqualification Match for the titles!

Ivelisse, Son of Havoc and Angelico beats The Crew (Bael, Mr. Cisco and Cortez Castro) in a No Disqualification Match to officially become the first-ever Lucha Underground Trios Tag Team Champions!

Here are the highlights form tonight's show!

Underground Sound - Lucha Underground recap for April 15, 2015

As Aerostar stands atop of  the Lucha Underground Temple, the proprietor Dario Cueto lurks from behind. He says that Aerostar will need more luck than wishes upon a star, as he believes that Drago isgoing unleash his fires of hell on him to get a taste of Cuerno's "unique opportunity".

King Cuerno, Cage and Texano beats Prince Puma, Johnny Mundo, and Hernandez to advance to the finals of the Lucha Underground Trios Tag Team Championship Tournament. After the match, Dario Cueto congrats the team for making it to the finals, but wants a preview of the finals next week. Cueto sets up an impromptu triple threat match involving a member from each participating team in the finals... and tells Cuerno, Texano and Cage to make a decision.

Cage chooses to represent his team in the three-way dance.

Cage beats Son of Havoc and The Mack when he hits the Weapon X on Havoc.

Dario Cueto runs into Drago, who is preparing for his match against Aerostar. Cueto says that there's an "unique opportunity" on the line, and he better bring his A game.

Pentagon, Jr., who is not scheduled to be in the ring tonight, is in the ring. He whispers to ring announcer Melissa Santos to announce that tonight's sacrifice was dedicated to "his master"... which happens to be Melissa herself. While struggling against Pentagon, color commentator Vampiro won't stand for this, and goes to the ring for the save... not before Sexy Star swoops in and saves Melissa.

Since Melissa Santos is too shaken to announce the main event, Dario Cueto decides to take on the task, and remind everyone that the winner will earn one of his "famous and unique opportunities".

Dario Cueto is at ringside for the main event match.

Drago beats Aerostar to win the final match in the Best of Five Series, and the two shake hands in respect. Dario Cueto congratulates Drago for the win. The "famous, unique opportunity"? He gives Drago a shot at Prince Puma's Lucha Underground Championship. BUT... if he does not win the match, he will never be seen again in the Lucha Underground temple.

Lucha Underground Review 4/15/15

Sup, everyone and welcome to the April 15, 2015 edition of my Lucha Underground review. This isn't going to be a long one, but I do want to get a few thoughts off my chest. The main topics I want to cover are: Pentagon Jr.'s sacrificial conquests taken a little too far and the finals for the LU Trios Tag Team Championships is set!

Pentagon Jr.'s sacrificial conquests taken too far(?)

For the past several months, the masterly, dangerous  Pentagon, Jr. has been on a vicious acquisition of annihilating various members of the Lucha Underground roster and ultimately making them sacrificial lambs for his "master", who has no identity whatsoever. His latest acquisition? Ring announcer Melissa Santos, who is usually told to announce when another sacrifice is bound to happen. Thankfully enough, Sexy Star swooped in for the save, while Vampiro was going for it momentarily. Did his "master" really tell him to prey on the innocent?  What is really Pentagon's motivation for these severe beatings he deems "sacrifices"? Let me tell ya, I do have some theories about this whole "master" ordeal. Remember when Pentagon had the brief blink-and-you'll-miss alliance with Chavo Guerrero, Jr.? When the two fell apart after the culmination of Aztec Warfare, Chavo "quits", and Pentagon started his rampage not long after. I feel that the two have either re-aligned, or they may have never ended their alliance in the first place. However, this is just my theory on this storyline. Hey, you never know. I may have scratched the surface on this one...

LU Trios Tag Team Championship Tournament Final is set!!!

Take a look at these three trios that will square off to become the first-ever Lucha Underground Trios Tag Team Champions!

Ivelisse, Angelico and Son of Havoc
Big Ryck, Kill Shot and The Mack
King Cuerno, Cage and Texano

First off, let me say that the team of Ivelisse, Angelico and Son of Havoc make for a rather interesting and dysfunctional team. I mean, you have two members who have recently broken up, and a third wheel who may have wanted to taste Ivelisse's goodies, if ya catch my drift. Following his return to Lucha Underground to get revenge on his former stablemates The Crew (Bael, Mr. Cisco and Cortez Castro), Big Ryck brought in his good friend, Kill Shot and his on-screen cousin, The Mack as his backup. The three killed it in their semi-finals match, and The Mack continue to impress in the preview Triple Threat Match against Cage and Son of Havoc. The most recent and final team to enter the finals: King Cuerno, Cage and Texano. You have a cool, but cold demeanor Luchador, a F-ing machine and the ruthless rudo of AAA... ... just full of badassery. They used their crafty heel tactics to their advantage to get the win (however, as Vampiro pointed out throughout the match, Puma and Hernandez being on a team together was not a good idea in the first place). I am very excited for this one, Expect all night of these competitors to be putting their bodies on the line all over the temple!

That's it for this one, folks! Until next week, keep on flyin'! LUCHA! LUCHA! LUCHA!

Underground Sound - Lucha Underground recap for April 8, 2015

Dario Cueto has Konnan and his protégé, Lucha Underground Champion Prince Puma is in his office. He sets up Trios match for the Trios Tag Team title tournament, but assigns Puma and Konnan to find two partners for the bout.

Despite Ivelisse bailing from the match, Son of Havoc, Angelico and Ivelisse beats Drago, Aerostar and Fenix to advance in the tournament to crown the first-ever Lucha Underground Trios Tag Team Champions!

Prince Puma will defend the Lucha Underground Championship against King Cuerno in tonight’s main event!

While Prince Puma is training in the back, Konnan lets him know that he’s found the perfect partner. Who? None other than Shawn Hernandez. With this, Konnan plans to orchestrate an unstoppable force in Lucha Underground. Suddenly, Johnny Mundo comes out of the wood works and accepts the invitation of being the third man of the trio. Konnan is enraged, and he still does not trust Mundo, and says that Puma shouldn’t either.

Sexy Star is scheduled to face Super Fly tonight. Dario Cueto acknowledges Sexy Star for saving Super fly from getting his arm broke by Pentagon, Jr., but Cueto wants no mercy. “El Jefe” takes the match up a notch by setting up the first Mask vs. Mask match in Lucha Underground history.

Sexy Star beats Super Fly in a Mask vs. Mask match. After the match, the two opponents talk it out in the ring, as Super Fly has to give up his mask per stipulation.

Super Fly and Sexy Star are still in the ring. Sexy Star is reluctant to remove the mask of Super Fly. Finally, she removes the mask and the two hug and shake hands as he approves. Out of nowhere, Pentagon, Jr pushes Sexy Star off the ring apron and attacks the unmasked Super Fly, destroying him with the packaged piledriver. Sexy Star runs back in for the save as Pentagon flees.

Before the match, Prince Puma brings out his backup: Johnny Mundo and Shawn Hernandez. Shockingly, King Cuerno brings out backup of his own as well: Texano and Cage!

Prince Puma beats King Cuerno with the 630 Splash to retain the Lucha Underground Championship. Shawn Hernandez walks in the ring to hand him the title, but Puma takes offense to this, and the two began arguing. Cage cuts this off quickly, attacking Puma from behind. Luchadors from the opposite teams began to brawl in the ring, as both teams head into their LU Trios Tag Team Championship Tournament match next week.

Here are highlights from tonight's episode!

Lucha Underground Review 4/1/15

Sup everyone, and welcome to the April Fool's edition of my Lucha Underground review. Suspense has been ascending as of late, and this week's episode is NO different. Tonight main topics I will be covering are: the return of the Black Lotus, two new wrestlers and a new title added to the mix!

The Return of the Black Lotus...

Black Lotus has graced us with her mysterious presence on our TV screens for the first time since she was captured by a masked man - who was later revealed to El Dragon Azteca, who knows about the murder of her parents. He promises to teach her the art of Lucha Libre, so she can gain retribution against the man who took the lives of her parents. In my opinion, this was the segment of the night. The scenery of the whole entire segment was mesmerizing and cinematic, with Black Lotus telling her story in a diary entry. My eyes were locked on this segment the entire time, which makes me even more excited about what happens next in this storyline. What captured my attention the most about this segment is the fact that she is currently learning "the art of Lucha Libre". Does this hint a future in-ring debut for the Black Lotus?

Two New Wrestlers on the Block!

We got two new wrestlers on the block! Both being indy sensations, Willie Mack (who goes by The Mack in Lucha Underground) and Shane Strickland (goes by Killshot). I know these two very well, and both of these guys are the real deal. What's another bonus is that they are aligned with Big Ryck in the tournament for the the Trios Tag Team Championship (which I will discuss later in this review), and they may help Big Ryck if he were to cross paths with his former allies in the The Crew (Bael, Cisco and Cortez Castro). If you do not know of these two guys, let me give you some facts on these two. Willie Mack is a mainstay on the Californian independent circuit, wrestling for promotions such as Pro Wresting Guerilla and Championship Wrestling from Hollywood. He was one of the top indy wrestlers who tried out for the WWE. However, he was released beforehe even began his WWE career. Whereas Shane Strickland is know for his tenure in Combat Zone Wrestling (CZW) and being a two-time CZW Wired TV Champion. Man, I am excited to see these two on television. Having these two on the roster can only help heat up the competition.

A NEW Title!!!

YES!!! Lucha Underground has a new title in the mix. What is it, you ask? It is the Lucha Underground Trios Tag Team Championship! Tonight kicked off the tournament on the way to the titles, where we saw the newly aligned - Big Ryck, The Mack and Killshot vs. Sexy Star, Pentagon Jr. and SuperFly. Also, the highly unlikely, and dysfunctional tandem of Ivelisse, Angelico and Son of Havoc were announced to be in the tournament as well. Tonight's Trios Match was action-packed and highly competitive and you can best believe that this tournament is going to be fast and furious the whole way through. On a side note, I can't wait to see what the titles look like... :)

Before I sign off of this one, I can't help but notice the tons of complaining from fans about the WWE and the TNA product. Dude, get real. There is much more to this sport than sports-entertainment and rebuilding a product. If you want some quality matches and storylines, tune into companies such as Lucha Underground and others such as Ring of Honor. To make it simple, STOP COMPLAINING ALL THE TIME!

All ranting aside, that's it for this week's review. Until next time, keep on flyin'! LUCHA! LUCHA! LUCHA!

Underground Sound - Lucha Underground recap for April 1st, 2015

Dario Cueto is in his office when he gets an unexpected visit from Big Ryck and along with Killshot and his cousin, The Mack. Big Ryck confronts Dario over the attack several weeks ago, and suspects him of orchestrating the attack by The Crew. In order to resist a potential beatdown, Dario vows to give Big Ryck what he wants… and they shake on it!

Sergio Areu performs to start the show!

It is announced by Matt Striker that there will be a tournament for the new Lucha Underground Trios Championship, and the tourney starts… tonight!

Johnny Mundo beats Angelico with the End of the World.

Black Lotus – who is still on the hunt for Matanza, writes her happenings of the past month in her diary. The man who captures her is revealed to be El Dragon Azteca, who was there during the murdering of her parents. He promised to teach her the art of Lucha Libre, so that she can soon get her revenge on the man who took the lives of her parents.

Johnny Mundo runs into Alberto El Patron who congratulates Mundo on his win tonight. They joke around with each other, only for it to get serious. Alberto leaves Mundo – who is dazed in confusion.

Dario Cueto has Sexy Star in his office. She is still upset over her friends being taken out, but Cueto proposes two new partners for her in the Trios Championship tournament – those partners being SuperFly and Pentagon, Jr.

Drago beats Aerostar to make it 2-2 in the Best of Five Series. The two shake hands after the match, but the handshake was more intense than the previous ones.

Dario Cueto now has Angelico, Ivelisse and Angelico in his office. He criticizes all of their bad doings before putting them together as a trio for the Trios Tag Team Championship Tournament Match, which the three received the news very negatively.

Big Ryck, Killshot and The Mack beats Sexy Star, Pentagon, Jr., and SuperFly to advance in the tournament for the Trios Tag Team Championship. After the match, Pentagon put his own partner, SuperFly in his signature armbar, only to eat a boot from Sexy Star to end the show.

Underground Sound - Lucha Underground recap for March 25, 2015

Son of Havoc beats Angelico, and he dumps Ivelisse in the process, stating that she is the reason that he has been losing matches.

Dario Cueto has been very impressed by a man, who is revealed to be Shawn Hernandez. Dario extends a warm welcome to him, and gives Hernandez a special seat at ringside for the Boyle Heights Street Fight Match main event tonight.

Alberto El Patron beats El Texano, Jr. via the armbar submission to retain the AAA Mega Championship in a Bullrope Match!

Konnan is training extensively with Prince Puma for his title match tonight as he envisions his previous encounters with the challenger, Cage. Hernandez stops by and reunites with his former manager and introduces himself to Puma, who is seemingly reluctant to accept his greeting. Konnan tells Puma to focus and encourages him to win his match.

Before the main event title match, Lucha Underground proprietor Dario Cueto emerges from his office and introduces the brand new Lucha Underground title belt, replacing the first one that was desecrated by Cage.

Prince Puma beats Cage to retain the Lucha Underground Championship, much thanks to the help of his mentor Konnan and the debuting Shawn Hernandez, whom Cage called out during the match. Konnan presents Puma with the new title belt to end the show.

Here are highlights from tonight's show!

Underground Sound - Lucha Underground recap for March 18th, 2015: "Grave Consequences"

Aerostar beats Drago in the third match of their Best of Five Series, bringing his score up to 2-1. The two men shake hands in respect.

Konnan believes that every move and every action is all in the art of combat, and that it is his duty to protect "El Rey" (or in this case, Prince Puma). Konnan's revenge is coming...

Big Ryck beats The Crew (Bael, Cisco and Cortez Castro) in a 3-on-1 No Disqualification Elimination match. Ryck eliminates all three, but he eliminates that last remaining member Cisco with the help of Sexy Star, who gets revenge for her friends, Pimpinela Escalarta and Mascarita Sagrada and for attacking her on multiple occasions.

It is announced that both the AAA World  and Lucha Underground titles will be defended next week! Alberto El Patron will defend the AAA title against El Texano, Jr.; Prince Puma will defend the title against Cage in a Boyle Heights Street Fight!

With the help of Catrina, Fenix beats Mil Muertes in a Coffin Match.

Lucha Underground Review 3/19/15

Something really weird happened to last night's review. Thankfully, I typed it up somewhere else beforehand. It somehow replaced with the NXT blog. However, here it is again. Sorry for the sudden inconvenience.

Her beauty is only outmatched by her ruthlessness. Watch your back when Catrina enters the room. Better yet, seek safety for your soul

Sup, everyone and welcome to the March 18th, 2015 edition of the Lucha Underground Review! Tonight’s episode was full of revenge, blood, blood and MORE blood. There are two main topics that I’m covering for this review are: two major title matches and tonight’s main event where one of the two competitors suffered “Grave Consequences”. Without further ado, lets get down to it!

Two Major Title Matches!

It was announced during the show that Dario Cueto has signed a check, in both the AAA World Heavyweight Championship and the Lucha Underground Championship will be defended NEXT WEEK. This is a sudden, yet huge move by Lucha Underground! Just think about it, four of the company’s top stars going at it for two notable titles in Lucha Libre aspect of professional wrestling. Alberto El Patron will defend the title against his arch nemesis, El Texano, Jr.; and Prince Puma will defend his title against Cage in a Boyle Heights Street Fight. I remember mentioning a possible AAA World title match in Lucha Underground, but I did not think that it was going to happen in just a short amount of time. Also, with the Lucha Underground title on the line in the same episode, this episode should not be missed!

If you are wondering about my predictions for these two matches, well I see Alberto El Patron retaining the AAA World title… but by a straw! I’m very sure that El Texano, Jr.’s definitely going to give Alberto a huge run for his money. As for the Lucha Underground title match, I want to say Cage, but I have a feeling that Konnan’s going to return, and get his revenge on Cage for putting him on the shelf. However, Cage has been dominating every time he has had a match in Lucha Underground… and he’s just an overall badass, so I’ll go with Cage.

Who suffered “Grave Consequences”?

I am sure that both of these men – Fenix and Mil Muertes, that is – were not anticipating what they were going to do to each other in this match. To be honest, I feel that Catrina was the fueled that ignited what would be a classic match between these two. Mil Muertes made Fenix bleed to a bloody pulp – and even almost ripping his entire mask off. The coffin was used as more than a burial box, it was used as a weapon, as it was tossed in and out of the ring the entire match. The two brutalized each other throughout the temple, with both equally taking each other to the absolute limit. Catrina was (shockingly) a non-factor throughout the whole match… until the end until she distracted Mil Muertes enough for Fenix to bury him along with the stone of power, sentencing Mil Muertes to his death… or is he done for?

Tonight’s main event was incredible and as I said, it was a classic without a doubt. I also enjoyed seeing the blood. Not meaning to sound sadistic or anything, but it’s been a while since I’ve seen blood in this type of match, which suits me better than this PG crap that’s seen on the TV. Yeah, I said it, and I’m not taking it back.

Underground Sound - Lucha Underground Recap for March 11, 2015

Pentagon, Jr.  beats Argenis with his variation of an armbar, snapping Argenis' arm in the process. He grabs the mic and says that he's unstoppable and that he is prepared...

Johnny Mundo will take on King Cuerno in Lucha Underground's first-ever Steel Cage Match later tonight!

Fenix is lacing up his boots in the locker room before Catrina appears. She says that despite Fenix being a man of action, he must prove this to her by taking on the ultimate task: burying Mil Muertes for good.

Konnan's revenge is coming!

We see King Cuerno crusing down the fast lanes of Los Angeles, and his arrival at the Lucha Underground Temple.

Angelico beats Ivelisse with a surprise roll-up. Son of Havoc, who was the special guest referee, tried to intervene on Ivelisse's behalf, but it ultimately backfired.

Mil Muertes is having some alone time in the locker room area. As he's washing his face, he faintly hears Catrina's voice in the background, who recalls his dark childhood, and that when Fenix comes for him, he will be that same lonely boy again. When Mil Muertes finds out that it was only an illusion, he slowly turns around and sees the rock of the Earth, which gives him power.

Johnny Mundo beats King Cuerno in a Steel Cage Match with the End of the World from the top of the cage!

Here are the highlights from tonight's show!

Lucha Underground Review 3/11/15

Sup, everyone and welcome to the March 11, 2015 edition of my Lucha Underground Review! First off, let me apologize for not giving you guys a review from last week,... to much was going on. As always, Lucha Underground continues to deliver high-octane matches and storylines. Tonight, some topics I want to cover are: Konnan's revenge, grave consequences, and history being made... again. Without further ado, lets get started.

Konnan's Revenge

Tonight, there was another vignette depicting Konnan's attack by Cage from several weeks ago and him in a Matrix-like rain scene with the slogan: "Revenge is coming." For one, I am very excited about his return, because this can only continue the story of Prince Puma, who is the "Pride of Boyle Heights" so to speak. Also, Konnan is definitely looking to gain retribution against Cage, who was responsible for busting Konnan's head open with his own cane, and putting him on the shelf in the first place. Speaking of Cage, he alreayd has yet another Lucha Underground title match under his notch, and he has somewhat of the psychological adantage going into his future title match. The real question is: When will Konnan return to get his revenge? I am thinking that it will possibly be during the title match between Cage and Puma, and he will leave the fans on their ends by making the shocking return.

Grave Consequences

... and the sadistic, yet sensual mental mind games of Catrina continues! Tonight, Catrina was slithering around backstage, further dismantling the mental states of both Fenix and maybe Mil Muertes. Lately, it seems that Fenix and Catrina are some sort of item, but as I said multiple times now. this may be a plot against fenix for defeating Mil Muertes. Catrina wants Fenix to take on the inevitable task of burying Mil Muertes, which sets up Lucha Underground's first-ever casket match next week! Catrina wants Mil Muertes to feel like the lonely boy that he was during the days of his dark childhood. If Fenix were to bury, Mil Muertes, Catrina may be satisfied with his work, but she may or may not continue to be mentally detrimental to Fenix's mind. However, if Mil Muertes were to bury Fenix, Catrina may go back to him, but against her own will. The possibilities are endless, and I am very excited that this match is set up for next week. Things were going to come to a head sooner or later.

History being made... again.

Fans in the Lucha Underground Temple and at home witnessed Lucha Underground's first-ever Steel Cage Match between Johnny Mundo and King Cuerno, who developed a quickly-heated rivalry in just a few short weeks. This match was nothing short of an demolition derby, with both men using the steel cage as a lethal weapon; and taking each other to the absolute limit! Cuerno, who is usually seen as a high-flyer, really put on the heavy duty tonight, showing that he can be a powerhouse as well. Mundo wins with his signature End of the World maneuver from the top of the cage. The fans were roaring in appreciation, and this match had me on the edge of my seat. Lucha Underground has been on a roll with these classics as of late. And you can only imagine what will happens as 2015 rolls on.

Well, folks, that's it for this week's review! I will be back next week for another one (I mean it, everyone!!!). Until next week, keep on flyin'. LUCHA! LUCHA! LUCHA!

Underground Sound - Lucha Underground Recap for March 4, 2015

Dario Cueto is excited about Alberto El Patron's debut match in Lucha Underground... and his sacred temple. He proposes matches against the likes of Famous B, but Alberto angrily disapproves. He wants one man in the ring... El Texano, Jr. Cueto reluctantly accepts El Patron's request.

Mil Muertes beats Fenix. Afterwards, Mil Muertes signals for Catrina to do her signature "Lick of Death" on Fenix, but defies him, only to be grabbed up in a chokehold. She drops the rock (which possesses some kind of power), and is rammed to corner of the ring. Fenix grabs the rock and makes the save, laying Mil Muertes out with the Enziguri. Catrina does the "Lick of Death" on Mil Muertes and then kisses Fenix once again.

Konnan will seek revenge!

Ivelisse is in Dario Cueto's office, and she thinks she deserves a shot at the title. Cueto disagrees, saying that she's only won one singles match against Angelico, and she would have to prove herself worthy of a title shot.

Prince Puma is training backstage. Alberto El Patron interrupts and makes it simple: he's coming for the Lucha Underground Championship.

Big Ryck beats Sexy Star after Ryck simply sets her down and pins her, thus earning a three-on-one match with The Crew in the near future. The Crew (Bael, Cisco, Cortez Castro) attack Big Ryck. Sexy Star briefly joins in before being laid out by Cisco. Big Ryck explodes with a comeback before the trio scurry out of the rin.

We look at the background of Alberto El Patron, who looks to achieve more greatness in America by conquering Lucha Underground, but on his own terms.

El Texano beats Alberto El Patron via disqualification when the referee catches El Patron with Texano's bullrope.

The mysterious Luchador who had Black Lotus gagging in the trunk of his car last week wants a cage match against Johnny Mundo next week. Dario Cueto accepts his request.

Lucha Underground Review 2/25/15

Sup, everyone and welcome to the February 25, 2015 edition of my Lucha Underground Recap! Tonight's episode was an incredible one, with two matches that I would consider classics, and build-ups to stories that have been transpiring for the last couple of weeks. Topics that I will be covering tonight are: two classic matches, ignited feud between Johnny Mundo and King Cuerno, and Black Lotus being questioned. Without further ado, lets get started!

Two Classics!

Tonight, we witnessed two classic matches: Aerostar vs. Drago and Lucha Underground Champion Prince Puma vs. Cage in a #1 Contenders Match. First off, Aerostar and Drago have already faced off twice in the past couple of weeks, with all of the matches being great encounters. However, this particular encounter took the cake for me. Right after an incredible start to the show, the proprietor of Lucha Underground, "El Jefe: Dario Cueto comes out and deems their series of matches a Best of Five Series Matches, with the winner of the final match getting a shot at one of his "famous opportunities". Oh, this is going to be good.

Also, you have the #1 Contenders Match between Cage and Prince Puma, which was so good, it could have been a World Title match for all I care. With near fall, after near fall, it just shows how both men were taking each other to the limit by using their distinctive styles in the ring. Cage continues to show why he could very well be the ultimate badass of Lucha Underground, mostly because of his unbelievable agility for a man his size, and his ability to easily transition from a powerhouse to a awe-inspiring high flyer in the blink of an eye. Puma's in-ring ability, as always, is straight up innovative high flying offense, and proving that humans can fly (haha). The only thing I did not like about this match: Konnan throwing in the towel and quitting on the behalf of the champion. Of course, Puma would be pissed about it, but the question is: what was he reason for doing so?

Mundo vs. Cuerno - A Feud Ignited.

These two tore, it. up. in the main event match. Despite the match ending in a draw (due to a double count-out), that did not stop the men from straight up brutalizing each other all over the Lucha Underground Temple. I knew that it was going to turn out more than just a challenge match to end the beef between the two for Cuerno attacking him several weeks ago. To be honest, I would love to see a rivalry between these two. I mean, these two having a match against each other for the first time and they can tear the house down like that? All joking aside, these two can have classics if Lucha Underground were to keep this up... in which they which do it more than likely.

Black Lotus gets questioned... by who?

Last week, as you know, a vignette was shown of the mysterious woman, now known to me as Black Lotus, was still on the hunt for "Matanza", a person she's wanted to kill since she was a little girl. What she did not know, however, is that there was someone else in the room with her, who captures her and takes her hostage. Fast forward a week later, she is in the trunk of someone's car, and the man is revealed to be a masked Luchador (and I have yet to find his name) who wants to know what Black Lotus knows about "Matanza". Phew, that is a lot to take in. What I am digging about this whole thing is that it really feels like you are watching a thriller film; and being that the El Rey Network is based around the Grindhouse effect, it just makes all more interesting. What I can take from the segment is more questions than answers. Who is this masked Luchador? Why is he questioning Black Lotus? When will he find out who "Matanza" is? So many questions, but it will be awhile before we find out, folks.

That's it for this week, folks! Tune in next week for another one of my "famous reviews" (taken that from El Jefe's "famous opportunities")! LUCHA! LUCHA! LUCHA!

Underground Sound - Lucha Underground Recap for February 25, 2015

Aerostar defeated Drago. Aerostar and Drago shake and raise hands showing a sign of respect. "El Jefe" Dario Cueto comes out and sees that the two get along so well, but we wants to see more out of them. He then set up a Best of Five Series (in which two matches are already in the books, so it's 1-1) and says that the winner will get one of his "famous opportunities".

King Cuerno will face Johnny Mundo one-on-one for the first time tonight!

Cage defeated Lucha Underground Champion Prince Puma to become number one contender for the title when Puma's manager, Konnan throws in the towel!

Konnan is backstage with Prince Puma, and he reassures him to stick to their plan. Sexy Star is in Cueto's office, and she is tired of men jumping in her matches to save her and how her friends got sent to the hospital last week. Cueto proposes the idea of giving her a match with Big Ryck, but Sexy Star does not accept, but Cueto assures her that he and The Crew (Bael, Cisco and Cortez Castro) have something in store for Big Ryck...

Vinny Massaro vs. Pentagon Jr. is next. Before the match, Pentagon tells ring announcer Melissa Santos that he dedicates this match to his "master".

Pentagon, Jr. quickly defeats Vinny Massaro. After the match, Pentagon sunset flip powerbombs Vinny from the top rope through a table! Pentagon then snaps Vinny arm, and then kisses the mat as a sign of sacrifice to his "master."

King Cuerno vs. Johnny Mundo ends in a draw due to a double count-out. Despite this, the two men kept brawling throughout the temple to end the show.

Outside of the temple, a mysterious black car drives through the lot. When the car stops, someone opens the trunk to the mysterious woman who has been searching for "Matanza". The person is revealed to be Blue Demon, Jr., who wants to question her about her knowings of "Matanza".

**From now on, I will be posting the recap and review to Lucha Underground on separate posts!**

Lucha Underground Review 2/18/25 - "Eye for an Eye"

REVIEW!!!

Sup, everyone and welcome to the February 18, 2015 edition of Lucha Underground! Tonight's episode was a jam-packed one. So jam-packed that I had to make this week's review a separate post. Not like I'm complaining, though. :) There is a lot for me to talk about tonight, including: End of the search for Matanza?,  El Texano, Jr. vs. Alberto El Patron, Catrina's new love?, Chavo quitting and the return of Big Ryck. That's a mouthful! So, without further ado, let's get started!

End of the Search for Matanza?

Here we are with another part to the "Quest for Matanza". The mystery woman is still on the hunt for tis "Matanza, but it seems like she finally found him/her tonight in a dark room backstage. She says that she has been waiting to kill them wiht her bare hands every since she was a little girl. But who? Who is this Matanza? I recall predicting that it was someone on the roster, but apparently, it may be someone else... but who? What is she after them for? What have they done to her? So many questions, but no answers, as of yet. With her confronting the mysterious figure tonight may be a sign of "Matanza" making his/her debut in the coming weeks.

El Texano, Jr. vs. Alberto El Patron

Things came to a head tonight when Alberto El Patron gained a little retribution against El Texano for his brutal sneak attack last week. Prior to Texano's debut match tonight, he stated in an interview with Vampiro that Alberto "stole" the AAA World Heavyweight Championship from him, and that he will reclaim what's his. This is very interesting to me, because what if Lucha Underground makes that big move and book an AAA World title match between the two on an episode of Lucha Underground. I mean, that would be a big step for Lucha Underground as a company, and it can help AAA gain some Amercan exposure with interporomotional matches on Lucha Underground. Of course, I am going to have to do some research as to why El Texano, Jr . calims that Alberto stole the title from him. I am excited to see what happens in this rivalry. El Texano just has this badass look to him, along with great agility and speed for his size. This guy's the real deal. Oh, and it doesn't hurt to have El Texano as a father, either. To close this part of the review: Lucha Underground, book El Texano, Jr. vs. Alberto El Patron. NOW!

Catrina's New Love?

Oh, how this storyline gets freakier and weirder with each passing week, This week, Mil Muertes started off the show in a match against Chavo Guerrero (who I will discuss later in this review), but Catrina did not accompany him as usual. She came out later on in the match. Things really started to get well... creepy after the match when Mil Muertes precedes to choking Catrina and taking advantage of her. Fenix, who Catrin has been feasting her eyes on for the past several weeks storms the ring and takes out Mil Muertes. Catrina kisses Fenix yet again, but now it seems that Fenix is more accepting of it. What is going on with this picture? It seems that Catrina is really leaving Mil Muertes for Fenix, but then again, something inside me tells me that this is all a hoax and that this a way to to gain psychological control over Fenix in order for Mil Muertes to get revenge on Fenix for defeating him a couple of weeks ago. Either way, to be continued....

Chavo QUITS!

Chavo Guerrero dropped the bomb on Dario Cueto (right after Cueto' meeting with Cage. may I add) that he quits and that everyone in Mexico was right and he was going to be with his family. However, Cueto shrugs this off, and gives him that lame "I wish you good luck on your future endeavors." mesh. Of course, this may be kayfabe, but I feel that he's going to come back with some backup. Remember when he was ranting about being the top guy in Lucha Underground? Well, I feel that every since Aztec Warfare, Chavo's top heel status took a quick downfall, especially with the debuts of Cage and newest Crew member, Bael. I think that this is not a good move, because first off, it was definittely out of nowhere and two : they set him up to be this top bad guy and to step out of the Guerrero shadow, and now it seems that it has all gone downhill. Hmm, maybe I'm just jumping to conclusions too quickly...

Return of Big Ryck - Vengeance shall be his!

During the trios main event match, Big Ryck, who is wearing an eye patch due to his eye being burning by a cigar that he smoked by a Crew member. The Crew (Bael, Cisco and Cortez Castro) make a run for it, livign to fight another day. Wuth this return, I definitely see a big match of some sorts in the works. Maybe a handicap, trios or a series of singles matches where Big Ryck takes them all down one by one. I don't care, to be honest. I just want to see how he goes to the Old Testament on their asses!

That's it for this week! Until next week, keep on flyin'! LUCHA! LUCHA! LUCHA!

Underground Sound - Lucha Underground Recap for February 18, 2015

Mariachi El Bronx perform to start the show!

Mil Muertes defeated Chavo Guerrero. After the match, Mil Muertes continues to harm Catrina (like he did last week) until Fenix makes the save. In retaliation, Catrina kisses Fenix again, but it seems that Fenix is more accepting of this kiss.

The mysterious woman in black is walking secretly backstage and opens the door to walk up a flight of stairs. Where is she going?

Dario Cueto holds a meeting with The Crew (Bael, Cisco and Cortez Castro) in his office, with Cueto awarding his henchmen with a six-man tag main event. Their opponents? Pimpinela Escarlata, Mascarita Sagrada and Sexy Star. He wants them to hurt the technicos so bad, that they will never come back into the Lucha Underground Temple.

Ivelisse and Son of Havoc are in the ring. She says that even though Son of Havoc is scheduled to face Angelico in a rematch, she says that after seeing him lose for the past couple of weeks, the she will challenge his manhood by Angelico facing HER in a match.

Ivelisse defeated Angelico, thanks to the help of her boyfriend, Son of Havoc. Angelico grabs the mic afterwards and says if she wants to wrestle him again, but without her boyfriend around, he'll be glad to do so. He says this with wink, hinting that he may have a thing for Ivelisse.

Vampiro has a Spanish with the newcomer El Texano, Jr. Texano claims that Alberto El Patron stole the AAA World Heavyweight Championship from him, and says that he will reclaim what is his.

Texano Jr. quickly defeated Super Fly. Alberto El Patron comes out and he and Texano brawl around ringside. El Patron grabs Texano's signature bullrope and whips him with it, before El Texano scurries away.

Cage is in Dario Cueto's office, who says that he should already be champion. Cueto says that despite Cage having what he wants in a champion, Puma is still the champion. He sets up a non-title match between Cage and Puma. Cage tells him to get him a real title belt when he becomes champion. Chavo Guerrero barges in a says that he quits. Cueto, who is not enthusiastic about the news, says that "he wishes Chavo good luck on his future endeavors."

The mysterious woman in black makes her way upstairs into a dark room. She seems to be talking to the "Matanza" she's been searching for. She says that when she was a little girl, she's always pictured herself killing the person wuith her bare hands when she grew up.

Pimpinela Escarlata, Mascarita Sagrada & Sexy Star defeated Cisco, Beal & Castro (The Crew), thanks to the distraction by the returning Big Ryck, who has a patch on his eye, in which Sexy Star steals the pin.

Since this has been a jam packed episode of Lucha Underground, I will post my review on a separate post. Stay tuned!

Underground Sound - Lucha Underground Recap for February 11, 2015

Dario Cueto chats with Alberto El Patron, who has some things to get off his chest tonight.

Fenix defeated Argenis with the piledriver. Catrina crawls into the ring in a possessed sensual style on top of a beaten Argenis, staring at Fenix as she does it. Fenix makes a run for it, while Catrina sadistically looks on.

Alberto El Patron arrives as he makes his Lucha Underground debut tonight!

Catrina is walking backstage when she runs into Mil Muertes. She tells him that he needs to - before she finished her sentence, Mil Muertes grabs her up in a chokehold and yells at her in Spanish before putting her down. Moments later, Mil Muertes is walking down the halls and Chavo Guerrero happens to pop up. Muertes grabs Chavo by his neck and slams him against the walls.

A mysterious man is asking God to forgive him, for he is going to sin. Throughout the promo, there are vignettes of The Crew (Bael, Cisco and Cortez Castro) attacking Johnny Mundo and Big Ryck. At the end of the promo, Big Ryck appears, smoking his cigar and saying that he is going back to the Old Testament and he makes it simple: "Vengeance shall be his."

Mariachi El Bronx performs for the crowd!

Son of Havoc says that Dario Cueto has finally gave him some real competition, and he will dedicate his win to "the baddest bitch in the building", his girlfriend Ivelisse. His opponent? Johnny Mundo!

Johnny Mundo defeated Son of Havoc, much to the dislike of Havoc's girlfriend Ivelisse. Out of nowhere, King Cuerno dropkicks Johnny Mundo from behind, attacks him to hit "The Thrill of the Hunt".

Pentagon, Jr. defeated Ricky Mantel via Submission and nearly broke his arm much like he did to Famous B last week. he grabs the mic and says that he dedicates himself to his "master."

Alberto El Patron comes out to a thunderous ovation from the fans in the Temple, with the AAA World Heavyweight Championship in hand. Alberto calls the audience his family and that he is finally here in Lucha Underground. He talks about his legendary wrestling family including Mil Mascaras and Dos Caras and how they taught him about the passions about the wrestling business, and how he became a wrestling icon in the country he had to conquer, the United States. He says in Spanish, "Back there, they embraced me, but when I turn around they stabbed me in the back." and that he is the first Luchador to hold every major title in North America. He refuses to be held back because of the color of his skin or getting the job (but he boldly says that he gets the job done), and that the Revolution of Alberto El Patron has begun, but out of nowhere, Alberto's  rival El Texano, Jr. makes his debut and attacks him from behind.

REVIEW

Sup, everyone and welcome to the February 11, 2015 edition of the Lucha Underground recap. Things are heating up tonight, especially with highly-anticipated debut of Alberto El Patron and various feuds throughout company. Topics that I will be focusing on tonight are Big Ryck's vengeance, Catrina's sadistic desires, and Alberto El Patron's debut. Without further ado, lets get started.

Big Ryck's Vengeance

One of the highlights of tonight's episode, in my opinion is the backstage promo with Big Ryck. A couple of weeks prior to this, The Crew (Bael, Cisco, and Cortez Castro) turned their back on Big Ryck, much to the satisfaction of Dario Cueto. Throughout the promo, there were vignettes shown of The Crew doing their dirty work. All I have to say is, The Crew had better have eyes in the back of their heads, because now Big Ryck is going OLD TESTAMENT on them, and as he said in his promo: "Vengeance shall be mine." Oh, I cannot wait for him to return. I feel that something memorable is going to happen, and I'm glad that he said his prayers, because he's going to be doing some major sinning!

Catrina's Sadistic Desires

So, we've seen a good amount of Catrina on the big screen more than usual tonight. First, she peered up at ringside during Fenix's match against Argenis, and she sexually and creepily crawled on top of Argenis after the match. Also, she got into some sort of an "altercation" with Mil Muertes, who grabbed her up in a chokehold, but she seemed to enjoy it. To be honest, I do not know what is going to happen and who is going after who, but I know that someone's going to left broken and battered afterwards. Maybe Catrina has some sadistic Fenix fetish or something (haha). Another thing that I learned is that never mess Mil Muertes when he is angry (and Chavo Guerrero found that out tonight)!

Alberto El Patron's debut

Alberto El Patron's debut tonight was nothing sort of awesome! He came out to a thunderous ovation from the crowd in the Temple and he was able to get some things off his chest that's been on his mind for quite some time. In his promo (which is much better than his promo work I've heard in the past), there was one thing he said that stood out to me, which he said in Spanish, "Back there, they embraced me, but when I turn around they stabbed me in the back." When he said this, I knew exactly who he was talking about... his situations with the WWE. Since being released, he has had some critical things to say about the WWE - from the pay to the underutilized talent (to who he says that they should go to the Indies if they had the talent, because money has to be made). I can tell that he is happy where he is, and if ya ask me, I think that this a great move by Lucha Underground to sign El Patron. Another thing that stood out to me was the blindside attack by El Texano, Jr., whom Alberto beat for the AAA World Heavyweight Championship. This debut was not acknowledged, which makes things a bit more interesting. I can come up with a good number of scenarios: such as El Texano, Jr. and Alberto El Patron going at it for the AAA title in Lucha Underground, which can be huge for both promotions, or the two having a deep storyline to continue their feud from AAA, which is also good for both companies. Whatever the case, El Texano, Jr.'s attack changed the complexion of things, and things will only get more intesne in the coming weeks.

That's a good load for you guys this week. Tune in next week for another Lucha Undeground review. LUCHA! LUCHA! LUCHA!

Underground Sound - Lucha Underground Recap + Review for February 4, 2015

Mariachi El Bronx peforms to start the show.

Son of Havoc and Ivelisse are in the ring. Ivelisse grabs the mic and says that she is tired of fans saying that Son of Havoc sucks on Twitter. She says that she doesn't date losers, and if anyone has a problem with him then they have a problem with "the baddest bitch in the building"!

Angelico defeated Son of Havoc with a surprise roll-up.

Dario Cueto welcomes back a figure to Lucha Underground, who is revealed to be Johnny Mundo. Cueto can tell that Mundo's ready for action. Mundo is looking to be the champion, but there has to be a new belt...

Pentagon, Jr. es ciero miedo....

Pentagon, Jr. qucikly defeated Famous B via Submission. After the match, he grabs the mic and says that he gives his loyalty to his master and that he has zero fear!

Dario Cueto is backstage with a key around his neck, who seemingly knows something about "Matanza".

Drago defeated Aerostar. The two men shake hands after he match.

Johnny Mundo takes on Cage for the first time ever tonight!

Fenix is training with the punching bag. Catrina sneaks up on him from behind, which cause Denix to turn around in shock. She asks him about his tattoo, and ponders about what would make a man scared if he wasn't dead. She then kisses him, and warns him to keep it between them, because if he (Mil Muertes) finds out, then they'll both be buried alive.

Cage vs. Johnny Mundo ended when King Cuerno interferes and attacks Mundo. Cuerno continues to go in for the attack, he hits Mundo in his knee. Cage leaves whe Dario Cueto comes out and restarts the match.

Cage defeated Johnny Mundo after the restart of the match with a variation of the Gory Bomb.

Backstage, Dario Cueto welcomes a new luchador to Lucha Underground, who is none another than Alberto El Patron!

Review

Sup, everyone and welcome to the February 4th, 2015 edition of the Lucha Underground review! As always, Lucha Underground continues to deliver and they continue to get better with each passing episode. Tonight's main topics I'm going to be covering are: Cuerno targeting Mundo, continued "Conquest for Matanza", Catrina's motivations, and the arrival. This hsoule be a relatively short one, but I'll make the best of it. Without further ado, let's get started!

Cuerno Targeting Mundo!

Tonight during the main event of Cage vs. Johnny Mundo, King Cuerno was watching the match from the rafters of the Lucha Underground Temple. Why? Well, we will find out nearing what seemed to be the end of the match, but Cuerno sets his target on Mundo, attacking him ruthlessly with a chair, injuring his knee in the process. This not only shows that Cuerno is on the hunt more than ever, but he may have a bone to pick with Mundo. Whatever the case, this was an interesting scenario, and now I want to see Mundo's reaction to the attack.

Continued "Conquest for Matanza"

Last week, the mysterious lady appeared in Cueto's office looking for Matanza. However, it seems that Cueto is on the hunt for Matanza. I have many scenarios for how this Matanza mystery will pan out. One: the mysterious lady is posing a trap. Two: "Matanza" may be someone on the roster. Three: Dario Cueto may know about Matanza. To sum it all up, the possibilities are endless...

Catrina's Motivation

As Fenix was training with the punching bag, Catrina appears out of nowhere and seduces him with her beauty and sadistic desires. She shares a kiss with him, but tells him not to tell anyone about it. So, my thing about this is what is the story behind Catrina kissing him? I think that this is all a set up, because of Fenix defeating her main squeeze, Mil Muertes last week. However, maybe there is something that Catrina feels about Fenix, and she may use her seduction tactics to take him under her wing.

Arrival of Alberto El Patron!

He's heeeeeeeeeeeeeeere! Finally. Alberto El Patron makes his Lucha Underground debut, but where does he go from here? Now, lets not make the assumption that Alberto's going to be the huge star of Lucha Underground. Is he a viable candidate? Yes! Should he be pushed into it? No! To be honest, having someone in the caliber of Alberto El Patron can only make things better for the company, especially since Alberto is already familiar to American wrestling fans (WWE, anybody?). Also, Luch Underground has helped Alberto a great deal behind the scenes with problems with his former employer, WWE so what better to pay back for all the help? I am very excited to see Alberto El Patron in a company that is clearly his comfort zone. and I know he is looking to tear the house down!

Well, that's it for me, folks. Until next week, keep on flyin'! LUCHA! LUCHA! LUCHA!
