WWE Monday Night Raw Results, My Thoughts and Analysis- June 24th, 2013 (part 1)

Good morning! Today I want to express my opinions on RAW and hopefully you like it!

Quick Results:

  • Sheamus & Christian def Team Rhodes Scholars
  • Kaitlyn (w/ Layla) def Aksana
  • Chris Jericho def WHC Alberto Del Rio via DQ
  • Ryback def The Great Khali
  • 3 Way #1 Contender's Match:  The Usos def Tons of Funk & 3MB to become #1 contenders for the WWE Tag Team titles
  • CM Punk def Darren Young (w/ Titus O'Neil) via Submission
  • Street Fight:  Daniel Bryan def Randy Orton via Submission (in overtime)
*Earlier that night, their match ended in a double disqualification*

First, I will give you my thoughts on the matches, then I'll give you thought on the WWE Championship MITB participants and my thoughts on segments/promos.

  1. Sheamus & Christian vs Team Rhodes Scholars Now, at first I wasn't interested in this match. MOSTLY because of the feud between Sheamus and one-half of Team Rhodes Scholars, Damien Sandow. It just seems like Sheamus is falling to the mid-card, despite the fact of him being a former WWE & World Champion. And above all that, he is NOT good as a face (and said by many fans, many times). The "up" factor about this match is the returning Christian, who was out for 10 months due to an knee injury. Of course, we knew what the outcome of this match was going to be, when Sheamus pinned Cody Rhodes for win after his trademark Brogue Kick.
  2. Kaitlyn (w/ Layla) vs Aksana Coming in after a devastating loss to her former best friend and new Divas Champion AJ Lee in a Divas Championship match, Kaitlyn is in a chaotic frenzy of sorts. The thing I get is why she's constantly being out in a match with Aksana. Newsflash, she's not the only heel Diva  in the back. Anyways, it was a short match with the highlight being Kaitlyn's music playing despite the fact that she's already in the ring. A.J. Lee comes out, with a buff-like bulletproof suit dressed as Kaitlyn. Kaitlyn def Aksana via Spear, despite the distraction. (I'll give my thoughts on A.J.'s segment later)
  3. Chris Jericho vs WHC Alberto Del Rio (w/ Ricardo Rodriguez) Although I'm still very upset about Dolph Ziggler losing the title to Del Rio (in which I still don't understand why they put the title back on him), it's in the record books now so there's really nothing that we can do about it. Now, on the match. Even though I'm not really a fan of Del Rio (sorry to Del Rio fans), this turned out to be a pretty decent back-and-forth match. I really wanted to see a clean win from one of those two, but Ricardo comes in and hits Jericho in the back with his bucket to give Jericho the DQ win. Dolph Ziggler then comes out and attacks Del Rio with the " Zig-Zag", while Jericho hit the "Codebreaker" on Ricardo. After Del rio & Ricardo scrammed, Ziggy hit Jericho with the "Zig-Zag", effectively making him a tweener.
  4. Ryback vs The Great Khali (w/ Natalya & Hornswoggle) Well, you didn't have to look hard to know who was gonna win this one. Although I have to say, The Great Khali was pretty good in this one, using his height and weight to an advantage over Ryback. The highlight of this is when Ryback muscled up every bit of the 430 lb behemoth and successfully executing the "Shell-shock" for the win.
  5. 3 Way #1 Contender's Match:The Usos vs 3MB vs Tons of Funk This match was relatively short one. Which shows why WWE has a no good tag team division. One little highlight is Brodus Clay showing his agile side, with the 368-pounder flying down on 3MB. The Usos, however picked up the win and the contender-ship via the Superfly Splash. Then, the "Hounds of Justice" The Shield would come out, with Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins raise their title belts with the "We're ready for ya!" look on their faces. That's why I Believe in The Shield.
  6. CM Punk vs Darren Young (w/ Titus O'Neil) There's no good reason that this match should have been put on the card. First off, Darren Young has nothing for CM Punk. Secondly, CM Punk's a main   eventer and top star in WWE. It was pretty decent, Darren Young showing off some moves from his arsenal. It ended when Darren Young tapped out almost immediately to Punk's trademark Ananconda Vise. After the match, Punk was attacked by the Primetime Players. Then, another "Paul Heyman guy" and IC Champion Curtis Axel comes to the aid of Punk. Backstage, Paul Heyman said he sent Axel to help Punk to show that he's faithful to Punk. This sets up a tag team match for next week's RAW: Axel & Punk vs The Primetime Players.
  7. Main Event Street Fight: Daniel Bryan vs Randy Orton This match was a great one! This a good and fresh rivalry (aside from Ryback and Cena) and these two work really well together to make their matches play out for good television. I liked the use if a Kendo Stick in the match, both men using it effectively. The bumps that they both took through tables were well sold. The match went into overtime, which shows how back-and-forth this contest was. It all ended when Bryan defeated Orton via the "No!" lock (while using the Kendo Stick for extra leverage). After the match, they both shook hands and the show ended with Daniel Bryan yelling "YES!" in victory.
I'll be back with Part 2 of my thoughts and analysis. Hope you liked part 1!
