WWE Smackdown Results for August 2nd, 2013

We kick off the show with World Champion Alberto Del Rio. He thanks the WWE Universe for not wanting him to be the champion, but he's here anyways. He makes fun of John Cena's Summerslam opponent Daniel Bryan and claims that Cena is afraid of him. He considers Brock Lesnar, but he already has a match. He considers Booker T, but he then shoots at him as a disappointment. The opponent he chooses is Ricardo Roderiguez.... SERIOUSLY?! Obviously, Vickie Guerrero is not impressed and comes out very disappointed with Del Rio. She then announces a 3 way main event to determine the #1 Contender  to face DEl Rio at Summerslam. It is then booked to be: RVD vs Christian vs MITB Winner Randy Orton.

Cody Rhodes def Jack Swagger

Cody Rhodes defeats Jack swagger after he countered the Gut-Wrench Powerbomb.

Josh Matthews interviews Cody Rhodes. He said that he threw the MITB briefcase into the Gulf of Mexico because he was tired of Sandow throwing around his "superiority" and putting him down. Damien attacks him after he said this.

Big E. Langston def Sin Cara

Renee Young is interviewing Kaitlyn and Layla. Kaitlyn says that she's ready for A.J. this time. Layla says she's never met a Diva who has the determination and drive of Kaitlyn and she's pulling for her.

Alberto Del Rio is upset at Vickie Guerrero for "going back on her word". Brad Maddox shows up and thanks Vickie for the good descision. Then, he stands up to Del Rio. 

CM Punk def Fandango via Submission

CM Punk defeats Fandango via the Anaconda Vise.

Renee Young interviews RVD. He's ready for the triple threat match. Then Christian shows up tht he says he's going to have "one more match" for the World title. Then, Randy Orton come and says that just because he's a MITB winner, doesn't mean that he can't have possession of both titles. He tells RVD to watch out, but he isn't worried a bit.

Divas Championship: A.J. Lee def Kaitlyn via Submission to retain

AJ Lee defeats Kaitlyn with the "Black Widow" submission to retain the title after Layla stops Kaitlyn from attacking AJ out the outside. She then skips out with A.J., completing her heel turn.

Alberto Del Rio shows up and says that he'll be watching RVD vs Orton vs Christian in the back and he'll make the winner tap at Summerslam. 

#1 Contenders match: Christian def Randy Orton & Rob Van Dam to become #1 contender

Christian wins the #1 contendership match! Randy Orton shakes hands with him, then RVD shakes hands with him a little after. He's then interviewed by Josh Matthews, but attacked by Del Rio.
