Well, the summer has hit and wrestling's about to get hot. I want to express my opinions about what I want to see go down in the top wrestling promotions in America and what I would like to see happen on the indy curcuit as well.
WWE
Coming off of a momentous Payback pay-per-view (along with a great RAW, Smackdown, then another RAW episode), WWE has gained some good and fresh momentum that we haven't seen in a long time. They're actually giving the Divas division some time in the light (when it comes to the A.J./Kaitlyn rivalry) and there are some other major feuds and returns going on. Although they made some bad moves, most notably Dolph Ziggler losing the World Heavyweight Championship after an only 2 month reign and being out due to an concussion. To me, he should have never defended the title due to the fact that he wasn't all 100%.
Other notable feuds going on are between Cena/Henry (who tricked many people worldwide into thinking that he was retiring). Now, a difference a week can make in pro wrestling! Last week, Henry had what seemed an Emmy award-winning promo about him retiring and ultimately tricking us! Then, the next week, the promo he cut lost almost all the momentum that he carried throughout that whole week. Don't get me started on Cena. It's the same old, same old stuff! His promos aren't really that interesting either. The only times that I found his promos to be interesting is when he was the self-proclaimed "Dr. of Thuganomics". Despite all that, kinda interested to see what goes down between these two building up to MITB and WWE's summer in general.
TNA
TNA has really improved over the last 2 years since changing their show name to Impact Wrestling and beginning the "Wrestling Matters". Although they're still seen by many fans as "WWE's Biggest Imitator", they've really made incredible strides when it comes to promotion, instant updates, and always keeping their fans up-to-date with what's going on in their company. They have exceeded in attendance rates since announcing they are travelling more on the road (since they needed to, because of the fact of them having ALL their events in the Impact Zone wasn't really helping them), so they can reach out to more fans.
Capping off a great Slammiversary 11 pay-per-view and the start of their annual Bound For Glory Series, there have been some ongoing feuds here and there.
Firstly, the Knockouts have two feuds going on which is always good for a women's division. I'm speaking of Terrell/Kim & Sky/James. Taryn Terrell's feud with Gail Kim has really gave her the big push in her career that she needed. After her show-stealing match with Gail Kim in a Last Knockouts Standing match at Slammiversary, it really gained her some respect from the fans and fellow TNA wrestlers. And to think that she wasn't really anything but eyecandy for the male fans to gape adoringly in the WWE. Now, she's competing in Last KO Standing & Ladder matches.
Also, other feuds that are going on are the Aces & Eights/Main Event Mafia. I'm not all that interested in this one. Mostly, because of the fact that TNA's had too many invasions in their 11 year history. You had Immortal, Fortune, the Mafia, Christian's Coalition, and now Aces & Eights. The whole thing is really getting old. Although I can say that it's had it's unpredictable moments, like D Lo Brown and Taz of all people joining the group, but the whole isn't "refreshing" to me.
I'm also really excited for what TNA's gonna do this summer and what they're gonna do when it comes to their feuds and storylines and how far they're gonna take them. I know that their fanbase is gonna grow with each passing week!
ROH & the Indies
Every since ROH began airing on Sinclair Broadcasting, more people have began to watch it. They have some of the best pro wrestlers on the planet, an outstanding tag team division, and many young blue clip stars on the roster. But, the only thing I'm concerned about is the so-called "Women of Honor" division. I remember back in 2006, they had MsChif, Sara Del Rey, Daizee Haze, Awesone Kong, and various others wrestling for them on their shows and iPPV (when they first came out), because of the fact that they wrestled for ROH's longtime sister promotion, Shimmer Women Athletes. Nowadays, MsChif has been the target of young women's wrestlers such as Athena, Allyson Kay, Cherry Bomb, and most notably Veda Scott. ROH has a chance to make a legitimate division and face off with the other top 2 companies in America. They've had some great pay-per-views and classic matches already this year, and who knows how far their great matches and momentum can take them.
Indies
As far as the indies go, they have the tools to get their work and shows out to the fans with YouTube, Facebook, Twitter (especially), etc. All I can say is that if they want to get their work out there, use the social networking sites. It NEVER letts you down.
